The indicators for writing said:
- Create and follow a writing plan
- Use a step-by-step process to assess data and complete their writing
- Emphasis the main point and support it with gathered data
- Understand when to stop researching and begin the writing stage
- Need to consider how their writing will impact their audience
- Benefit from remaining open to new ideas
- Meet the deadline but should be cautious not to rush through the writing stages
My responses are:
- I do not create and follow a writing plan. I just start writing and develop on the fly.
- I do not use a step by step process unless instructed to do so. I write, research and edit at the same time.
- I do emphasize the main point and then try to support it with gathered data. Sometimes I support it with what makes sense to me.
- I am stop researching or writing on the fly when I am finished writing.
- I do care about what I write. I usually don't care what is thought about it, because everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
- I do remain mostly open to new ideas. I will listen to the new ideas, but will not promise to adopt them.
- I do meet my deadlines, but don't always start early in my project.
All in all, the writing section did not match my perceptions of myself on most levels; however the student/learning section did match me on most levels.
The student/learning indicators said:
- Prefer learning through a step-by-step and hands-on process
- Apply information in order establish its relevance
- Dislike learning theory
- Desire to hear clear presentations and explicit expectations
- Want instructors to evoke interest in a topic and support their information with facts
- Create and follow a specific study plan
- Study well with others
The only indicator I do not agree with is the creating and following a specific study plan. I usually just study when I have time to study, such as between classes or in the evenings after school or work.
I am not really sure that it will help me with my writing in college, because I am not sure how much of my writing style I can base on this test.

Mike - You have shown me here what the indicator states and responded with how you see yourself, but it leaves me wondering how you know? Be specific in your reflections so the reader believes you. For an assignment like this you might choose one specific indicator to reflect on. Reflecting is thinking - practice thinking in type and you will find your writing assignments far more interesting. ~Ms. A.
ReplyDeleteSo does Mikes Kickin Cakes mean you like to bake?If so, then you do follow a step by step process when making them. I also tend to wait on starting projects until close to deadlines.
